Collection consists primarily of publications issued by the health care firm over its some 65 year history in North Dakota. It includes a good run of its annual meeting programs and annual reports (1968-1999). The publications series has been divided into three sub-series: monographs, serials and brochures. It contains the major serial titles issued by the society, at least since ca. 1950. The history series includes three formal published histories (1962, 1978 and 1998) as well as a draft manuscript of its history researched and written by retired Concordia College history professor, Hiram Drache. It also contains a chronology of events (1922-1993), various articles, and a very significant letter written by Frederick Knautz in 1937 outlining the establishment of LHHS. There is an extensive collection of press releases and internal memos regarding the formation of Banner Health System. The subject files include material on three of its leaders, Frederick R. Knautz, Harry M. Malm and Steven R. Orr; Blanche Jackson's work in establishing recreation programs in nursing homes, and a scrapbook detailing fundraising for a hospital at Sheldon, Iowa.
